Description

Following hot on the footsteps of the excellent E-ST900, the new Rockrider E-ST520 fills the gap between the £1000-£1500 price range.

Using the same frame, but slightly cheaper components that the E-ST900, the E-ST520 is an absolute bargain for anyone looking for a decent mid-drive electric mountain bike at a reasonable price.

Specification:

  • Brose-T Alu mid-drive motor 70Nm torque and 300% assist
  • 36v 11.6Ah battery
  • Rockshox 30 coil-sprung front forks with preload and lock-out
  • Micro Advent 1 x 9 gearing with an 11-42 rear cassette and 34t front chainring
  • 27.5″ double walled rims with alloy hubs and sealed bearings – tubeless ready
  • Hutchinson 27.5″ x 2.4″ tyres

From here, the Rockrider E-ST520 looks like an bargain.

Another great value e-MTB from Decathlon
They've done it again! The new Rockrider E-ST 520 electric mountain bike fills an important gap in the e-bike market. Only a couple of years ago, it was hard to find a decent mid-drive hardtail e-MTB for under £2000, but now Decathlon have moved the goal posts substantially. At a first glance the spec on the E-ST 520 looks great for the price. I will hopefully get my hands on one soon for a full test and YouTube video... watch this space!

I’ve had my E-ST 520 for a week now and i absolutely love it. It’s beautifully made and very powerful. It’s a go anywhere bike, happy on or off road. Handy walk assist button, Peddle effortlessly up all hills.

+ PROS: Good value, great looking, well built, powerful, easy to use, great after service and warranty.
    - CONS: Standard seat is quite hard, no bike stand, the lights supplied are a bit cheap. The instructions (what there is) state the display shows current, max and average speeds but mine only shows the speed your travelling at.

I have ridden one for two years and have had no problems whatsoever.

+ PROS: lovely quiet motor after 2000 miles there is no damage to any part and when washed it looks like new.
    - CONS: You have to get used to the speed governor. Too easy for your toes to hit the front tyre (frame should be slightly longer). It's not balanced in the sense that it will not self-steer if you take your hands off the handlebars. Saddle is durable but not comfortable Trip computer isn't nearly as good as it seems in the pictures.
